How many coats did you do to get them so darK? I am thinking that 2 coats will be all I want. I will start with tinting the tail lights, rear marker lights, cab lights and the fender lights.

I won't be tinting the headlights until I install some HIDs though. I agree that just a light coat will give me the look I want.

Thanks for the pics!

Ok here are mine with one coat of VHT nightshades. The previous owner had done them and covered everything. I used the 3M headlight restore kit to remove the paint. These got sanded with their 500 grit, 800 grit, 3000 grit foam wet sanding pad and then compounded with their foam buffer pad. Once I was done I think they looked better then any new housing. Had a deeper shine to them. So I taped off the clear parts and threw on one coat of the Nightshades. Kept the gloss real nice.

I still have not done mine. By the looks of it one coat will be all I want. I might go darker if I put some bright LEDs on the truck one day.

I am pretty sure I still have a bench mounted plastic buffer wheel that once was used to polish up old phones. I used it once to polish up some front signal lights for one of my Astro vans...they looked better than new when I was done.

I may not have to polish the light covers on my truck but I will check when I start the job. I think I want to try that 3M polishing kit if not for my truck then for some other projects. Actually I need a roll or two of 3M reflector tape anyway, so I will probably get the 3M kit while I am in town.

Be careful on the head lights. It will reduce your light output greatly. I would suggest if your going to tint them have a body shop do it. They can mix the paint super thin so it will tint but wont disrupt too much light.

Well iI found headlight covers that look great and fairly resonable ,so I think I'll be doing that instead.I like seeing where I'm going.
